DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES / MENA Newswire / – Emirates said customers have made more than one million connections to Starlink Wi-Fi since the service entered its fleet seven months ago. The Dubai-based airline said passengers have used more than one petabyte of data through the satellite internet service. The milestone covers free onboard access on aircraft already fitted with the system.

The Starlink Wi-Fi service now operates on 33 Boeing 777 aircraft and three Airbus A380 aircraft in the Emirates fleet. The airline said more than 60 Starlink-equipped flights operate each day. Passengers use the service for streaming, video calls, social media, online gaming, browsing and contact with family and friends during flights.

The rollout forms part of a wider Emirates connectivity programme across its long-haul aircraft. The airline announced in November 2025 that it would install Starlink on 232 Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft. It began commercial service on a Boeing 777 in November 2025 and set a target to complete the programme by mid-2027.

    Free access across cabins

Emirates offers Starlink Wi-Fi at no charge on aircraft fitted with the system. The service applies across all cabins and does not require passengers to pay for access. The airline has said the login process uses simple access steps and does not require Skywards membership on equipped aircraft.

The airline added the first Starlink-equipped A380 to the programme in 2026 after installation and certification work. Emirates said the A380 fit includes three antennas to support the double-deck aircraft. The airline said a Starlink-equipped A380 can provide more than two gigabits per second of combined aircraft bandwidth.

    Fleet rollout continues

The current Starlink network in the fleet covers Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft, which operate many of Emirates’ long-haul routes from Dubai. Emirates said it continues to add more aircraft each week. The company has linked the rollout to higher demand for inflight internet during long international journeys.

Starlink is a satellite internet service operated by SpaceX. The aviation version delivers onboard broadband through low Earth orbit satellites and aircraft antennas. Emirates said the system supports connected travel at cruising altitude, with the first million passenger connections marking the latest confirmed usage milestone in its fleetwide Wi-Fi upgrade.
