EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – A five-year wheat supply contract valued at up to US$500 million has been activated by the UAE and Egypt. Al Dahra Agriculture Trading will deliver imported wheat to Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities under this arrangement. The purchases will be financed through the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. This agreement enacts a framework established in 2023, defining the conditions for wheat transactions between Al Dahra and GASC over the next five years.

The signing ceremony took place on Aug. 26, 2026, at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein, with Egyptian Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk in attendance as GASC chairman. Al Dahra’s co-founder and managing director Khadim Abdullah Al Darei also participated. Details about the wheat volume covered, delivery schedules, shipment origins, annual targets, or pricing methods remain undisclosed by officials.
This latest arrangement extends the financing program initially announced by the UAE and Egypt in August 2023. Under that framework, ADEX offered US$100 million in revolving credit for wheat and essential commodities, with the possibility of renewal each year for five years, totaling up to US$500 million. The original framework involved Egypt’s ministries of finance and international cooperation alongside GASC. The current agreement clarifies how Al Dahra will supply wheat using this existing financing structure.
Five-year plan advances to wheat supply phase
As the export-financing arm of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, ADEX supports purchases related to UAE exporters. Its 2023 agreement with Egyptian authorities covered wheat and other key commodities supplied via Al Dahra. The revolving credit structure allowed annual renewal for the five-year term, but the new agreement does not establish a fresh US$500 million facility. Instead, it provides the commercial basis for GASC to acquire imported wheat from Al Dahra using already secured financing through ADEX.
Since 2007, Al Dahra has maintained agricultural operations in Egypt, including farms in Toshka and East Oweinat. In 2023, the company reported cultivating around 28,000 hectares in Egypt and supplying more than 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government over the previous three years. At that time, it also indicated that approximately 85% of its Egyptian farm production entered the local market. Today, Al Dahra operates an agricultural platform serving over 40 markets worldwide.
Imported wheat procurement remains linked to ADEX financing mechanisms
The agreement signed in El Alamein pertains specifically to imported wheat supplied to GASC, while Al Dahra continues crop production within Egypt. In 2023, the company identified itself as the largest private-sector producer of wheat and corn in Egypt. The new pact therefore involves a separate import route financed by UAE export support. GASC remains responsible for procurement under this arrangement. Neither GASC nor Al Dahra has disclosed the total tonnage of wheat covered by the five-year agreement.
The program’s total value remains capped at US$500 million over five years, aligned with the structure from 2023. No annual shipment schedule or supplier countries have been publicly revealed, nor has the pricing formula for individual transactions. As of Aug. 27, 2026, the formalized agreement links Al Dahra’s wheat supplies to GASC with the existing ADEX financing program, formalizing the operational phase of this five-year plan.
