The airline commenced daily flights from Dubai International Airport to Don Mueang International Airport on July 1 and cited strong summer travel demand as the reason for the rapid schedule expansion. The upgraded flydubai Bangkok services will operate from Terminal 3 at Dubai International, offering two departures each day to Thailand’s capital and increasing options for leisure and business travelers flying between the United Arab Emirates and Southeast Asia.
The additional Bangkok flight, together with flydubai’s increase in Krabi flights from four times weekly to daily, will bring the airline’s Thailand schedule to as many as 21 flights per week. Bangkok is flydubai’s second Thai destination after Krabi and is part of a broader Southeast Asian route network that also includes Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia. This route creates a direct link to Don Mueang, one of Bangkok’s two main international airports, while providing more seats during a period when carriers serving Thailand are expanding their schedules from the Gulf region.
Sudhir Sreedharan, flydubai’s divisional senior vice president of commercial operations, stated that the second daily flight is in response to strong initial demand for the new Bangkok service. He mentioned that Don Mueang offers convenient access to central Bangkok and that the additional frequencies will give travelers greater flexibility during the busy summer season. The airline has not disclosed booking figures or passenger load data for the route. However, its confirmed schedule change moves the service from seven to 14 weekly flights, making flydubai’s Bangkok flights a more prominent part of its Thailand operations starting July 18.
The Bangkok route is included in the codeshare agreement between flydubai and Emirates. Through this partnership, eligible passengers can book a single itinerary, check baggage through to their final destination, and connect across a combined network exceeding 240 destinations. The flights depart from Emirates’ Terminal 3 at Dubai International, facilitating connections through Dubai for travelers arriving from or heading to markets across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. The published schedule shows Don Mueang International Airport as the endpoint for both daily services, providing a direct link between Dubai and Thailand’s capital.
Don Mueang benefits from increased Dubai flights
Return Business Class fares from Dubai to Bangkok start at AED 12,000, while Economy Class Lite return fares begin at AED 2,600, according to flydubai. From Bangkok, Business Class fares start at THB 91,000, with Economy Class Lite fares from THB 21,000. The airline noted that the route is operated using Boeing 737 aircraft and highlighted recent cabin upgrades across its fleet, including lie-flat seats on selected Business Class configurations, redesigned Economy seating, meal services, and inflight entertainment on most aircraft. Fares are subject to availability, booking conditions, and the travel dates chosen by customers.
This increase in frequency is part of flydubai’s ongoing network expansion. The airline recently launched flights to Benghazi in Libya and plans to begin services to Aleppo in Syria on July 20 and Pokhara in Nepal on September 23. flydubai reports that its network now encompasses more than 140 destinations across 58 countries, operated by a fleet of 97 Boeing 737 aircraft. Since commencing operations in June 2009, the airline has transported over 137 million passengers and has opened more than 100 routes that previously lacked direct links to Dubai or were not served by a UAE national carrier.
Summer travel demand accelerates schedule growth
For Bangkok, the quick expansion follows the initial daily service that started on July 1. The new twice-daily schedule from July 18 will establish 14 weekly flights between Dubai and Bangkok, alongside seven weekly flights to Krabi, creating a total of 21 weekly flights to Thailand. The increased frequency can be booked via the airline’s website, mobile app, contact center, travel agencies, and partners. With the schedule now confirmed, passengers can compare departure times, fare classes, and onward connections through Dubai. This expansion also enhances the capacity of the Emirates codeshare network to Bangkok during the busy summer travel season through Don Mueang Airport.
