Monthly reserve records continue to climb in 2026
Throughout 2026, Egypt’s reserve figures have consistently reached new nominal highs. Holdings crossed the $55 billion mark in June, then surpassed $56 billion in July. August’s figure of over $57 billion was the first to do so. The country now reports three consecutive month-end reserve totals above $55 billion. Additionally, the August reserve level exceeds the December 2025 figure of $51.4516 billion by more than 10%, emphasizing ongoing growth.
The latest data position Egypt’s net international reserves at their highest ever recorded level, continuing an unbroken upward trend since the beginning of 2026. From January to August, every monthly reserve figure was higher than the previous month. While the August data remains provisional according to the central bank’s reporting standards, it clearly indicates a steady rise in Egypt’s reserves throughout the first eight months of the year.
