CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Between January and July 2026, Egyptians working abroad sent home approximately $29.7 billion. The Central Bank of Egypt indicated this amount reflected a 28.1% increase from about $23.2 billion during the same period in 2025. The seven-month rise contributed roughly $6.5 billion more than the same months in the previous year. The figures represent remittances sent by Egyptians employed overseas, with the increase following the record high reported for the entire 2025 calendar year.

In July alone, remittances reached approximately $4.5 billion, marking a 20% rise from about $3.8 billion in July 2025. Earlier months also saw year-on-year growth; January’s inflows were around $3.5 billion, up from $2.9 billion a year earlier. February recorded about $3.8 billion in remittances, compared to $3.0 billion in February 2025. These two months contributed nearly $7.3 billion to the total for the seven-month period, surpassing their combined 2025 level by about $1.4 billion.
The broader fiscal-year data also shows a significant increase in remittance inflows. During fiscal 2025/2026, Egypt received roughly $47.3 billion, representing a 29.6% rise from $36.5 billion in the previous fiscal year. June 2026 alone accounted for about $4.2 billion, up from $3.6 billion in June 2025, a 15.6% month-over-month gain. This fiscal year covers July 2025 through June 2026, while the seven-month data from January to July 2026 is a subset. The total increase over the fiscal year amounts to approximately $10.8 billion in dollar terms.
Remittance inflows display consistent growth across reporting periods
Higher inflows are also evident in calendar-year data, with remittances reaching about $41.5 billion in 2025, a 40.5% increase from roughly $29.6 billion in 2024. This signifies an approximate $11.9 billion rise. In the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, remittance inflows totaled about $22.1 billion, compared to $17.1 billion during the same period a year earlier, reflecting a 29.6% growth.
December 2025 set a monthly record of about $4.0 billion, increasing by 24% from $3.2 billion a year earlier. By January 2026, cumulative remittances for the fiscal year had reached $25.6 billion, up from $20.0 billion in the same period of the previous year. The Central Bank of Egypt subsequently reported about $29.4 billion through February, a 28% increase over roughly $23.0 billion during the comparable eight-month span. December’s year-on-year growth was approximately $800 million.
Spring period sustains upward momentum in remittance levels
Throughout the spring, the cumulative remittance total continued to grow. From July through March of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows amounted to about $34.9 billion, a 32% increase over the $26.4 billion recorded during the same period the previous year. By April, the total had risen to around $39.2 billion, representing a 33.2% increase from $29.4 billion. April alone contributed about $4.3 billion, up from $3.0 billion in April 2025, a 44% monthly rise or roughly $1.3 billion.
By May, the fiscal-year remittance total increased to approximately $43.1 billion, a 31.2% jump from $32.8 billion the year prior. May inflows were about $3.9 billion, compared to roughly $3.4 billion in May 2025. Over the 11 months, this amounts to an increase of around $10.3 billion. After June, the fiscal year closed at $47.3 billion, and July’s figures brought the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. All recent monthly, calendar-year, and fiscal-year data continue to surpass their respective figures from the previous year.
